The story behind the brand

In February 2005, Karen Allanby Brokensha, founded this Hospitality Marketing Consultancy as a freelance marketing service, connecting corporate hospitality customers to a portfolio of Durban/KZN based venues and hospitality service providers, including Eat Greek Caterers, Makulu Event Producers and Falaza Game Lodge.

In 2013, Karen stepped out of hospitality and into the Non-Profit Sector, serving vulnerable children and families for five years as the Co-ordinator for iThemba Lethu. In 2019 she joined The Clothing Bank as Youth Programme Manager and in 2020 took up the role as Donor Relations and Marketing for The Domino Foundation (and dived deep into Disaster Relief efforts!)

After a short season at Innovate Durban as Partner Lead, Karen made a strategic community development decision to step back into her own consulting business to marry the eight years in hospitality to the eight years of NGO work in order to build families, businesses and community through intelligence and insight to establish enterprises that will endure.

Over the years she learned all the gifts are in the room! People hold the power of endless possibility within their own hands, businesses and community, BUT sometimes they just get stuck in certain areas and need an external lens to help them move forward effectively. 

This is where Karen and her skills in activation, ideation, relationship building, networking, communication and story telling come to the fore. She is there assist to build better businesses and in particular the small community based enterprising and entrepreneurial ones! She is all about community building through the dignity of work!
